This portfolio represents a sample of my work throughout the Humanities Program at Davidson College during my Freshman Year.
I feel "discovery" represents my journey through this course. I enrolled in Humanities with the intention to discover the way people think, a very philosophical perspective. Whilst this came across especially in Units 1 and 2, I found myself thinking much more broadly in ways which applied to my whole Liberal Arts learning at the College. I believe that discovery helps to precipitate action just like our theme of 'revolution.' When exposed to a new idea or conceptual scheme, one will be enlightened to discover different perspectives.
Much of my work this year was inspired with this concept in mind. My final research paper in May focused on how the discovery of new moral values displayed by President Ronald Reagan in shifting discourse surrounding integrated school busing in my adopted home city of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Enjoy scrolling through my work! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed participating in this wonderful course!
